Vocational training info complete with entertainment

28 Aug 2017 - Mainz - Company-News

The family-operated company Werner & Mertz of Mainz was represented again this year at the Career Information Fair (BIM Rheinhessen) in the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz. At the two-day exhibition many young people, their parents and teachers had the chance to learn all about the highly varied training opportunities at Werner & Mertz. The focus was on the eight occupations for which new trainees are sought for the coming year.

Ten trainees from eight different vocations and their trainers presented the course content, requirements and career prospects for graduates of their training programs. Many of the young visitors were eager to talk directly to the trainees about their experience.

The icebreakers for personal conversations were the many appealing join-in activities at the stand. The future electronics and mechatronics technicians and industrial mechanics presented a small model of the sorting machine they had built as part of their industrial trades training.

The Wheel of Fortune operated by the commercial trainees attracted many young visitors who had to answer questions about the commercial, technical and scientific training programs or general information about Werner & Mertz. Correct answers were rewarded with a Frosch keychain.

Werner & Mertz GmbH belongs to the core group of exhibitors at BIM Rheinhessen. “The job fair gives us the chance to come into contact with young people from our region,“ said the commercial trainer Tanja Grimm. She added that potential trainees were happy for the opportunity to question the current trainees.

“Today skilled workers are in greater demand than ever,“ said Reinhard Schneider, managing partner of Werner & Mertz GmbH. “Vocational training is a solid basis for a successful career and a good alternative to university studies. We would like young people to be well informed and to be sure when they decide on their future occupation. After all, they could be choosing jobs for a lifetime.”

Young people can apply for eight of 10 occupations offered by Werner & Mertz in 2018: electronics technician for automation technology, warehouse logistics specialists and warehouse clerks, industrial clerks, industrial mechanics, IT specialists, media designers and chemical production specialists. The training starts on 1 August 2018.

The BIM Rheinhessen was organized by the Rheinhessen Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Rheinhessen Chamber of Trades and mainzplus CITYMARKETING GmbH.
