Werner & Mertz Owner meets Environment Minister
The circular cconomy and resource efficiency are major themes at IFAT 2022
Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke participated in the official opening of IFAT 2022 in Munich. At the world’s leading trade fair for environmental technology, she met with Reinhard Schneider, the owner of the cleaning products company Werner & Mertz of Mainz. They spoke about high-quality mechanical recycling and its importance in an effective circular economy for plastic. When new packaging is made from old packaging, plastic becomes an ecological recyclable material instead of an environmental problem. So a functioning circular economy for plastic is active climate protection.
Keep plastic in a closed loop
In an IFAT panel discussion entitled “How do we end the plastic crisis?” Werner & Mertz took up the question of how plastic can be effectively kept in a closed cycle. Schneider was joined by Herwart Wilms, managing director of REMONDIS, and environmental activist and actor Hannes Jaenicke in the discussion about climate responsibility, biodiversity and the handling of plastic.
The circular economy and resource efficiency are two of the major themes at IFAT 2022. Werner & Mertz is a main exhibitor in “Best practice circular economy – the material flow of plastics” in the special exhibition area. The trade fair continues until 3 June.
