Werner & Mertz donates cleaning and personal care products

Important support for Tafeln in Germany

Werner & Mertz has donated some 160 pallets of sustainable household cleaners, dishwashing detergents and shower gels from Frosch to Tafel Deutschland e.V., the umbrella organization of the Tafeln.  Spedition Schmelzer donated its services to deliver the goods to the Tafeln throughout Germany.

The Tafel helps disadvantaged people. Up to two million people seek help from the charity, according to the umbrella organization. “Poverty means more than doing without material things. Disadvantaged people have a lower life expectancy than affluent people and a higher risk for mental disorders and physical diseases,” said Andreas Steppuhn, Chairman of Tafel Deutschland e.V. He issued an urgent warning on the dramatic consequences of poverty on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty this past autumn.

The Tafeln centers and their many volunteers volunteers make sure that the aid goes directly to the needy.  With its donations, Werner & Mertz has supported the organization in its important work for many years.  The Mainz manufacturer sees social engagement as an essential part of the corporate philosophy and of its integrally sustainable orientation. All employees who are involved in the coordination, including the Supply Chain department, the German sales company Erdal-Rex and Werner & Mertz Service & Logistik, say the donation is close to their hearts and that they’re happy Werner & Mertz can help so many people.
