Werner & Mertz supports the Tafeln in Germany

Donations bring relief to the people who depend on the charitable organization

Werner & Mertz of Mainz is donating 400 pallets of cleaning products, laundry detergents, shower gels and shoe care products to Tafel Deutschland e.V., the parent organization of the Tafels. The shipping company Spedition Schmelzer donates its services for the transport of the goods to the Tafel locations. The goods distributed by 14 regional associations benefit several local Tafels, including Tafel Rheinland Pfalz/Saarland e.V., which in turn supply the Tafel Mainz.

The people who visit Tafel locations may have low-paying jobs or no jobs at all or might be single parents, chronically ill, refugees or impoverished senior citizens. The effects of current crises are apparent in the numbers: About 1.5 million people in all age groups depend on help from the Tafels. “We thank Werner & Mertz for this generous donation and its long-term support. Especially when living expenses are increasing, such donations of basic necessities  provide real relief for many people,” says Andreas Steppuhn, Chairman of Tafel Deutschland e.V.

The Tafel organization, with more than 970 locations and 77,000 volunteers, is one of the biggest socio-ecological movements in Germany. The non-profit Tafels provide social meeting places and help people in need to save money on food and everyday goods.

For several years Werner & Mertz has supported the work of the Tafels with its regular donations of products.
