Werner & Mertz supports the Tafels in Germany

Social responsibility is part of its corporate philosophy

Seventy-three pallets with cleaning products, laundry detergent and shoe care products have been donated by the Mainz company Werner & Mertz to Tafel Deutschland e.V., the parent organization of the Tafels. The shipping company Spedition Schmelzer donates its services for the transport of the goods to the Tafel locations. The cleaning products are intended for people in need who seek support from the Tafels.

Social responsibility is part of the corporate philosophy of the Mainz cleaning products manufacturer and of its integrally sustainable orientation. Employees from departments such as Supply Chain and Logistik & Services handle the practical side of the donation with their usual skill and a piece of their hearts.

People who have low-paying jobs or no jobs at all, such as single parents, the chronically ill, refugees or needy senior citizens, turn to the non-profit Tafel. From the Tafel perspective, the appeals for help show how widespread poverty is and how many people are disadvantaged. “In the high demand at the Tafels, we see clearly that too big a part of our society cannot keep up with the increasing costs of living and get into serious trouble,” said Andreas Steppuhn, Chairman of Tafel Deutschland e.V., at the end of January 2025. At the same time, the Tafel leader reports on broad-based support for the charitable organization. “Seventy-five thousand people are active in the Tafel and most of them—ninety-four percent—are volunteers.“ The Tafel has 975 locations throughout Germany.

In support of the Tafel, Werner & Mertz has provided the organization with cleaning products for several years. With regular donations, the Mainz-based family company contributes to the important work done by the Tafel.
