Together for Momo – Giving hope instead of presents
This Christmas season Werner & Mertz will show its commitment to species and climate protection instead of celebrating the holiday with traditional gift-giving. As part of our long-standing partnership with BOS Deutschland e.V., we will again support an orphaned orangutan. This year we are focusing on little Momo, who follows the other young orangutans Galaksi and Iqo.
The small orangutan female Momo had a hard start in life. Villagers kept her in a former chicken coop for six months after they found the little baby. When the BOS rescue team freed her, Momo was apathetic and anxious. Her will to live appeared to be nearly depleted.

Return to life
But Momo is a fighter. Just a few weeks after her rescue, she was looking around curiously and energetically swinging through the trees of the BOS Rescue Center, always keeping close to her caregiver Ursula. She likes cuddling, swaying in a hammock and eating fresh fruit.
With our Christmas donation, we would like to give Momo and other orangutan orphans a second chance. For many years the BOS Foundation has been working for the protection of the orangutans and the rainforest on Borneo.

Goal: release to the wild
BOS raises the rescued orphans for years. In the forest kindergarten and the forest school, they learn all they need for life in the rainforest. When they are ready, BOS releases the orangutans to the wild. Our support helps to ensure that Momo gets the best possible care and one day—we hope—can enjoy the life the orangutan was meant to have.
